Volunteer Some Time |
| |
Step up. Reach out. Give back. Find a place where you can make a difference in the life of someone else. We can all make an impact - big ones, small
ones, ones that impact a lot of people and ones that impact one
other person. Donate money and things whenever possible, but find some
time to give of yourself too. Make a path where you can.
Our Favorite Places to Volunteer The success of so many organizations, such as Diligent Hands...Gracious Hearts
is directly related to its ability to secure and utilize volunteers.
There are many ways to become involved: as an individual or group, on a
regular basis or on an as needed basis, doing general work or specific
tasks.
Volunteering your time to work directly with people experiencing homelessness
is one of the best ways to learn about people in need and to also meet
immediate needs. There is so much "behind the scenes"
work (filing, sorting clothes, serving meals) to be done. "Since 1984, Crisis Ministries has provided food, shelter and hope to thousands of hungry and homeless individuals and families. Crisis Ministries is the largest provider of shelter and supportive
services to homeless men, women, and children in South Carolina."
At Water Missions International, production facility volunteers help assemble Living
Water Treatment Systems (LWTS), which are installed
in developing countries and disaster areas. Nearly
anyone can be trained to work in the production facility.
It helps if you're handy, but it's most important
to be willing to work hard and not be afraid to get
a little dirty!

expertise and stretch yourself as you apply your skills in a new
context and from a new perspective.
